Practical keys to overcoming anxiety
Blurred surroundings. Breathless feeling. Rapid heartbeats. 100000 thoughts running across your mind. Ever felt that way? Well, I was that person. I’m gonna share some practical steps to overcome this daily battle we may face.
1. Let Go & Let God
2. Recognize what you can’t control and accept it (this is tough, I know)
3. "If its big enough to worry about, its big enough to pray about" SO PRAY!
4. Shut the door, speak to yourself (sounds crazy but this helps)
5. Do not bottle up ill emotions, share it with your confidant or your trusted friends.
6. Stop thinking of what's wrong with you and start thinking of what's right with you!
7. Write post-its or a daily journal of your joyful times in the past, so that in the time of need, you can revisit them and bring to remembrance of how joyful you can be
8. MEDITATE on God's Word and verses on peace! Here are some verses you can refer to:
'In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.'
- Psalms 94:19 (NKJV)
'Whenever my busy thoughts were out of control, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and overwhelmed me with delight.'
- Psalms 94:19 (TPT)
'You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.'
Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)
'“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous! '
John 14:27 (NKJV)
'Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing
gratitude.
Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. '
Philippians 4:6-7 (TPT)
These verses helped me during times of anxiety and panic attacks. God's Word brought me peace in my mind. The battle is always in the mind, God's Word targets the mind and becomes effective as we continue to meditate on these verses and many more.
